Built by a Parent Coach.
For Parent Coaches.

HoopsAI packs everything I learned across a decade of youth basketball coaching — the science, the systems, and the methods that work — into tools any parent coach can use from day one.

The Story

My name is Alistair Perry. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree and competed as a professional athlete earlier in my life. But basketball was never my sport — until my daughter made it mine.

When she was six, she watched her older cousin play a game and fell in love. She begged us to let her play. Within a year it was obvious she had something special — not just talent, but an unusual willingness to work. She wanted to get better, every single day.

Putting My Hand Up

In her second year, her team needed a coach — so I put my hand up. I was new to basketball, but I brought something valuable from my own sporting career: I knew how elite athletes train, and I knew how to learn.

So I went all in. I attended coaching clinics. I studied courses from experienced coaches. I read peer-reviewed research on motor learning, skill acquisition, and biomechanics. I watched hundreds of hours of coaching content from the best in the world. Every season, I got better. My teams got better. And practice became the highlight of the week — for the kids and for me.

The Driveway Years

When COVID paused competitive basketball for two years, my daughter turned the break into her biggest opportunity. Every day, rain or shine, she was in the driveway putting up shots — structured sessions, clear goals, honest tracking. When competition returned, she came back a different player. It was living proof of the idea HoopsAI is built on: consistent, well-designed practice beats everything else.

A Work Ethic That Set Her Apart

What set my daughter apart was never luck — it was work. She matched her love of the game with rare discipline: daily training, specific goals, and a willingness to be coached. Watching those habits compound, season after season, taught me the most important lesson in player development: talent opens the door, but smart, consistent work is what walks through it.

The Result

Today, my daughter holds a full-ride athletic scholarship at a Division I university in the United States. Last year, she was invited to the NBA Basketball Without Borders international camp — a recognition reserved for the top young players globally. Her journey from a six-year-old who fell in love with the game to an international-level athlete took years of joyful hard work, great coaching at the right moments, and smart, science-guided training.

Along the way, we learned from some exceptional coaches. I studied what made them exceptional — how they ran sessions, how they built confidence, how they developed skills that held up in games — and brought those lessons to every team I coached.

Why I Built HoopsAI

Over a decade, I explored the full spectrum of basketball development — private coaching, shooting programs, skills camps, online courses — and studied the science behind what delivered results. I learned exactly what great development looks like, and what it costs families to find it.

HoopsAI is the distillation of all of it — the tool I wish I had on day one. It takes everything I learned over a decade of coaching — the science, the methodology, the experience — and puts it in the hands of every coach and every family, at a price that makes quality coaching accessible to everyone.

Our Mission

Fast-track the coaching journey for parent coaches and give young players access to quality, science-backed development tools — without the premium price tag.

What Makes Us Different

Every practice plan generated by HoopsAI is built on the Constraints-Led Approach and ecological dynamics — the same methodology used by professional development programs worldwide. Our shooting program is informed by peer-reviewed research on biomechanics, motor learning, and skill acquisition. And our AI doesn't just generate generic drills — it learns from your feedback to deliver better sessions every time.

We combine the latest technology with real coaching experience and rigorous scientific research to provide the highest quality coaching tools to everyone, at a price that makes sense.
